Courageous Ambassadors for God

If you count the pages, you'll find that the Major Prophets--Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel--occupy almost 25% of the entire Old Testament. So, in the Illuminate curriculum we're faced with the daunting task of trying to pick only 13 brief passages of Scripture from this huge section of the Bible. The result is that we've chosen to focus entirely on the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, both of whom deservedly are regarded as giants in the long tradition of biblical prophecy. Selecting only these two books means that the courageous accounts of faithfulness in Daniel, his prophecies of future kingdoms, and the apocalyptic elements in Ezekiel are not included in this quarter's course of study. Instead we've chosen the theme, "Courageous Ambassadors for God" to highlight the courage and radical obedience of these two remarkabe messengers of Yahweh.
