The Jesus Movement

Covering challenging topics such as the biblical view of women in ministry, slavery, church leadership, and appropriate levels of cultural assimilation, this study digs into 7 brief books: 1, 2 Timothy; Titus; Philemon; and 1, 2, 3 John. Transitioning from the age of apostolic eyewitnesses of Jesus, the church was establishing an organization equipped for long term ministry. How would they discern between true and false teachings? How would they fit into the culture enough to survive, while living the liberating message of Jesus? This study takes on these difficult topics with details about the historic context, and offers a distinctly Quaker flavor through quotes from early Friends and stories of present day Quakers living the gospel in our own challenging times.
