The Gospel of Grace

The Illuminate Study Guide is a packet inluding a copy of the Illuminate booklet for study participants and a four-page leaflet of supplemental material for each lesson. Study goals, discussion questions, and lesson application along with the supplemental commentary provide useful tools for the study leader.

It has often been said that among the letters of Paul, the letter to the church in Rome comes the closest to a systematic theology, a thorough description of the gospel of grace. And, because the gospel of grace was being undermined by false teaching in the region of Galatia, Paul’s letter to Christians who were living there is the clearest statement in the New Testament about how salvation-through-faith-in-Christ-alone differs markedly from relying upon keeping the law of Moses. Hence, this study provides “a short course” on the gospel—the universality of sin, God’s provision of salvation through the death of Christ on the cross, and some basic teaching on how to live the Christian life.
